Woman charged with DUI, loses job as result

On Behalf of | Mar 3, 2020 | Dui |

When a person is accused of drinking and driving, he or she has a lot on the line. A DUI charge can have legal and personal effects that could greatly affect a person’s life. For example, even before a conviction, an individual could lose his or her job if charged with this type of illegal activity.

It was recently reported that job loss was a negative outcome for one Florida woman after her recent arrest. According to reports, the woman was driving a vehicle when she veered in efforts to avoid crashing. However, this action resulted in her car ending up in the opposite lanes of travel and colliding with an oncoming vehicle. Those were apparently the only two vehicles involved in the incident.

The crash did not result in any injuries. However, authorities had the woman perform field sobriety tests, which she apparently did not do well with, and a blood alcohol content test showed a BAC level nearly three times over the legal limit. As a result, she was taken into custody on a DUI charge. Not long after her arrest, she was dismissed from her job at a local sheriff’s department where she had worked since 1988.

It can be devastating to lose one’s job on top of facing issues with law enforcement. This Florida woman will undoubtedly want to mitigate the chances of any further negative effects coming against her, and gaining information on her legal defense options may help her combat the DUI charge. She may find herself in need of legal support during this time, and it may benefit her to remember her rights.
