Moments of irrational behavior can affect anyone. Individuals may let their emotions and frustrations overwhelm them, and before they know it, they lash out inappropriately. Unfortunately, if their actions involve physical contact with another person, assault and battery charges could result.

It was recently reported that three young women were taken into custody in Florida after an alleged altercation at an airport. Apparently, the women were supposed to catch a flight home from Fort Lauderdale, but the flight was delayed for over an hour. It was unclear what exactly led to the purported altercation, but the three women allegedly hit airline staff members with their hands and feet as well as other items, like water bottles, shoes and phones.

The women, whose ages were given as 20, 21, and 22, were taken into custody and transported to a county jail. They are all facing charges for battery, and one of the women is also facing a charge of petty theft for reportedly taking an airline employee’s cellphone. At the time of the report, all three women had been released from custody on bond. The workers involved in the incident were reported as having suffered minor injuries.

Assault and battery charges are nothing to take lightly. These individuals may feel as if they acted on impulse, but now is the time to be thoughtful and intentional about their actions. They may find it useful to obtain information from local Florida legal resources to better understand the charges, their legal options and how they could go about creating meaningful defense presentations to combat the allegations.
