Domestic Violence Injunctions

An injunction for protection against domestic violence is a civil order that provides protection from abuse by a family or household member. Per Florida law, domestic violence means “any assault, aggravated assault, battery, aggravated battery, sexual assault, sexual battery, stalking, aggravated stalking, bullying, kidnapping, false imprisonment or any criminal offense resulting in physical injury or death of one family or household member by another family or household member.”

If you are the victim, or if you have reasonable cause to believe that you are in immediate danger, you can apply for an injunction. Even if you have not been physically battered, you can still qualify for an injunction if the judge believes you are in immediate danger of becoming a victim of domestic violence.
